During the Spring term children at Carnforth school take part in a 3 week STEM project. This is an opportunity for them to use their skills from across the curriculum and develop them further in a project-based learning approach. Children are given a problem and through investigation, testing, design and creation they develop a solution. This solution is a product that has a specific design and purpose e.g. a mechanism to collect plastic from the sea or a moon buggy to transport items across the moon. The STEM project is heavily underpinned by a growth mindset approach and a constructive evaluation cycle. The project not only allows the children to develop their Science and D.T skills but allows them a safe and supportive environment to grow as an individual focusing on resilience, team work and perseverance.
